THE YAMAHA GRAND PRIX LIGHTS UP THE NIGHT IN DAVAO

The Yamaha Grand Prix is back and Davao becomes the inaugural racing grounds. The season presents brand new categories that adds to the competition. First, inspired by the point system of the MotoGP, Yamaha held an online voting campaign where fans can select which riders will represent Team Luzon, Team Visayas, and Team Mindanao in the 150 Open UB Championship. A wildcard team is also in the fray with selected riders that did not make the top 3 in regional voting.

The newly adapted voting, points system, and category were created to prepare winners for international races. With the home team pressure on the Mindanao racers and bragging rights on the line it was a tight match from start to finish. The visiting teams showed they were unfazed by the frenzy of the locals that screamed in every turn. Each rider felt the weight of the crowd who made sure their presence was felt. It was challenging yet blissful at the same time. As always, it’s the thrill of the ride is what they live for.

The Regional Teams are composed of:

Team Mindanao

Team Luzon

Team Visayas

A roaring return to the track is the All-Female Category. It is a delight to see the ladies on the track again with a steady growth of participants through the years. The past 8 seasons of the YGP included the development of female riders and each competition saw an increase in riders. The performance of pioneer females inspired a new batch of racers that resulted in this milestone season. For the first time ever, the female category is included in every leg for the entire season. Yamaha has always believed in the potential of the Filipina rider and 2018 is their banner year.
