Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT)
The YECVT enables switching between different ride modes and a downshift feature for the rider to adjust how quickly the Motorcycle accelerates or decelerates. The downshift feature expands the rider's range of control, such as when they want to experience strong acceleration when passing a vehicle in front of them or when they want to use both the brakes and engine braking while executing downhill turns.
When the rider needs stronger acceleration, pressing the Shift button on the left-hand switch box activates a downshift. Pushing the button adjusts the CVT's reduction ratio based on how the bike accelerates or decelerates, resulting in a change in engine rpm. If the rider needs additional acceleration, pressing the button twice or three times* results in successive "downshifts." In addition, starting downshifts by pushing the Shift button can improve the efficiency of engine brakes when going downhill and in other conditions.
The Shift button allows for up to three successive downshifts. The number of downshifts that can be executed at a time is determined by several factors, including the ride mode selected, throttle opening, throttle angular velocity, vehicle speed, and engine rpm. The number of downshifts is also displayed on the instrument panel.
Downshift Functionality for Enhanced Control

For additional power, the rider can press the button two or three times, triggering successive downshifts that deliver even greater responsiveness.

The system allows up to three successive downshifts, with the number of downshifts determined by several real-time factors, including:
